Increased the square footage of the kitchen by moving the laundry/foyer closet
wall and also by moving the door to the garage toward the laundry. The additional
square footage gained, allowed the placement of an island to open up the floor plan,
allowing two entrances in to & out of the kitchen. The island also has bar seating
on the dining side for three, which can be used for entertaining as well. The wall
between the dining and living room was also cut back and an arch created. This allowed
more space for increased dining occasions, and also allows users in the three areas
to have more of a connection to one another. Created entirely new lighting and electrical
plan, including recessed, decorative and under cabinet as well as a clear glass vent
hood above stove to maintain open feeling of space. Replaced oak wood flooring with
cork for warmth and softness, added traditional natural cherry cabinetry, and topped
them with quartz countertops for durability. Added a glass tile backsplash that incorporates
the tones of the floor, cabinets and counters, thus creating a cohesive updated look.
